COACHELLA MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL BRINGS MINIMAL TRAFFIC IMPACT ON SURROUNDING CITIES

LA QUINTA, CA

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival opened it’s campground on Thursday, April 12 to welcome the expected 65,000 campers for this year’s festival. The grounds opened early to accommodate early arrivals and maintain normal traffic conditions. Officials from Goldenvoice, City of Indio and City of La Quinta worked together to minimize traffic impacts.

A listing of road closures and affected areas were posted days before through social media, websites and street signage warning local residents of the detours and closures. The La Quinta Police Department and La Quinta Traffic Division provided situational status reports and were positioned to alleviate traffic concerns, however they reported that the traffic was minor with no incidents.

City of La Quinta will continue attending daily breifings at the Polo Grounds and will maintain communications with our partners for Coachella weekend one and two as well as Stagecoach weekend. An estimated 125,000 staff and attendees will be on site daily for both Coachella and Stagecoach. Concerns and questions regarding the festivals should be directed to concertinfo@indio.orgor by calling 760.391.4112.
