Lieutenant Nicolas Lingle

Lieutenant Nicolas Lingle has proudly served the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office for more than 23 years, bringing a broad range of experience and a strong commitment to public service. Throughout his career, he has worked in multiple divisions including corrections, court services, and patrol operations.
Lieutenant Lingle began his career at the Indio Station (now Thermal Station) where he provided patrol services to the cities of La Quinta and Coachella, as well as unincorporated areas of the eastern Coachella Valley. In 2012, he transferred to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station serving in patrol and contributing to specialized units such as the City of Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team and the Burglary Suppression Unit.
In 2017, he was promoted to Corporal and assigned to Court Services East. He returned to the Thermal Station in 2020 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2021. As a Sergeant, he served in several key leadership roles including patrol supervisor, Field Training Officer program supervisor, training liaison, and administrative sergeant. In 2024, Lieutenant Lingle was promoted to Lieutenant overseeing patrol operations at the Thermal Station. In August 2025, he was reassigned to serve the contract city of La Quinta as his primary duty assignment.
In addition to his command responsibilities, Lieutenant Lingle is an advanced officer training instructor and regularly teaches specialized courses at the Regional Training Center, training peace officers from agencies across the state. He also oversees the Field Training Program at the Thermal Station.
Lieutenant Lingle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership. A lifelong resident of the Coachella Valley, he lives in the community he serves with his wife and their three children.
